People with the big 'P'

This year, I am frequently challenged by a certain word - PASSION.

Somehow, there is a drive to discover my passion in life. In the past, I do have likes and dislikes, however, they cannot fit into what I understand of PASSION - sacrificial, determined, focused.

So on the road to discovering my passion, I am also greatly inspired by people who have great passion in life. One of them is Dr. Leslie Tay. Suhui introduced me to his blog recently, and I have been hooked since then. He is a doctor, but he is passionate about food. His mantra? Do not waste your calories on lousy food! Other than my initial interest on how come this doctor is so free to go around Singapore tasting food, reviewing food, and finally blogging about food, I've come to enjoy his posts. Not because of the food he recommends, but somehow, because of the passion that flows out of it.

A new season

Purple is the 'in' colour, at least for me. After buying all my winter clothes, I realized majority of them were purplish-pink.

I am starting to realize that I am in this new season. The decisions I make, the things I devote to in my free time, and the little amazing things that happen in my life - yes, this is the new season, unknowingly.

For the first time in my life, I briefed a group of middle-aged adults about conducting children's ministry in Karimun. These adults had children in the youth ministry, and I would probably have called them "Aunty", "Uncle". I realized that I have never worked with adults older than me before, until I started working. There is this dissonance, this out-of-comfort-zone feeling that I get. Especially when I have to lead them. Well, it takes a while to get used to, I guess. and yes, it is all part of the pruning and training.

Speaking of missions, it is likely that I get to go to Myammar at the end of the year, but probably have to fly back alone on an earlier date to catch another flight. yeah!

God has been really good. A colleague of mine whom I have been reaching out to smsed me today, "An old lady passed me a brochure, and it's from Grace Assembly of God. Is HE telling me to go to church?"

Wow! That is my church, I replied her!

Her reply blew me away in amazement, "Oh! HE is really telling me something huh. I was just about to tell you that I can go to your church one day, didn't know that is your church!"

Doesn't God speak in amazing ways? =)

If you love me..

Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey my commands."

Esther says, "If you love me, you will spend quality time with me."

Reflecting about this year, and all its events made me realize how much I treasure quality time. I guess when everybody starts working, time is precious. Quality time is rare. I look forward to meeting you, you, and you soon!

I also realized that I am less melancholic now. I dunno if it's because teaching trains the choleric side of me, or that I have stabilized as a melancholic. I still feel 'emo' at times, in fact, more so recently. Yet, these 'emo-ness' which previously made me feel worse, is now driving me straight into the throne room of God now. It is certainly God's grace, and I also think it comes with age. hehe. A good thing once you're 5 years to 30. heh. Well, that's a thing to celebrate about as the biological clock ticks away.

I was quite patient with the kids today. Somehow, I am always more patient on Monday, when my tank gets refilled over the weekend. On Monday, the kids are only 7 years old, so give them a break. On Friday, the kids are already 7 years old, for goodness sake! Teaching has really made me realize the consequences of a full tank versus an empty tank. I wonder if I'll miss these bunch of quirky ones next year...

Life at its best

It's the flurry of Term 4, where the looming exams prove urgency to the teachers, but never to the innocent students. Apart from that, I realized every organization, every committee, every right-minded being is starting to plan for 2010 when winter is not even here yet.

Before we can even do a solid evaluation of 2009, we have to start planning and budgeting for 2010 first. Forced to think about where to go and what to do next year, I start dreaming again. Dreams always feel so exciting when they were first dreamt, but I worry about being able to carry it out in totality.

I love walking down the shopping alleys at my own pace; and sipping a cuppa tea when you feel like it.

I love reading National Geographic Magazine - it never fails to make me go 'Wow!' at every issue.

I love how I got to use my brains at work, especially when they're things I'm passionate about.

I love the excitement of year-end holidays, and shall try to squeeze in a mission trip.

I love it when decisions are made to make me a better person, especially when it makes me more like You.

I love the smell of early mornings, where I have the luxury of time and not be in haste.

Contentment is a great feeling to start with each day, even though nothing spectacular may happen that day. And boy, have I been feeling contented this season over little things. *smiles*

I need to improve on my grammar. Bleah. and yes, this post is random. =)
